Room 8 Science Experiments

Whilst investigating Climate Change and Weather, Room 8 have been having fun with some experiments.

To find out more about evaporation, we called our first experiment: Disappearing Water. This is what we did: We soaked two dishcloths in water. Wrung them out so they were damp. Spread one cloth on a plate and put the other cloth into a plastic bag and sealed it. We left them in a warm place near the heater. We felt them every day to see how the cloths changed.

Jamie explained what we found out at the end of the experiment. He said, "Wet things dry out because the water disappears into the air. This is called evaporation. The cloth in the bag stayed wet beause the water could not reach the air."

Well put Jamie!
