This week in Room 9

It has been a busy but happy week in Room 9. We did lots of different activities and learned a lot.

We were counting how many sweets were in a box of Celebrations!

Harris counted 72. So we separated them into different sorts.

Leon was painting a landscape for our dinosaur topic.

The finished landscape had dinosaurs on it. It looks good!

Harris and Aman were putting the scales on a Tyrannosaurus Rex

Later in the week we visited the Glass House at Queen's Park

We saw lots of giant goldfish and algae eaters

We saw a corn snake!

There was a newt in the water. It is an amphibian
and can live in or out of water.

Jamie and Shah were counting cubes and joining sets

Aman was concentrating very hard

Mazi and Liam were learning about tens and units

This Week in Room 3

This week in Room 3 we went to aerobics.

We danced and then relaxed because we were very tired after all the exercise.

We used magnets to make different shapes.

Lexi made a cube.

Maye made a cube with a triangle inside.

Rayyan found some shapes and made a rocket. Zoom.....!

Callum sorted the shapes.

Rayyan helped to tidy up all the magnetic shapes.

We used our fine motor skills. We matched the colours.

We are learning about our sounds. Lexi and Rayyan matched their sound to the pictures.

We played in the playroom to relax after all our hard work

We have had a really busy week!

Room 7 "I went to the shops and bought..."

Room 7 were using Tesco magazines to make a picture story for their  logo books. The children had to choose 5 pictures to add to their story about going to the shops. They cut and glued them into their books independently.  Here are a few photo's of them working hard.

A trip to the Post Office with Room 9

Recycling is a major part of Kirkriggs School's Eco efforts. Our school photo copiers use complicated cartridges which are posted back to be recycled when used. Room 9 took the boxes to the Post Office near our school and posted them back.

Not only is this a reinforcement of the need to recycle, but it also allows our children to get out into the built environment around the school and learn other things such as where and how to cross the road safely. They also interact with members of our local community and learn what shops and services are around them.

We gave the parcels out to the children.

We were one short so Shah shared one with James

We went up the road to the Post Office

Liam gave his parcel to the lady
