Room 8 Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

We had a very interesting morning at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum looking at many of the exhibits. We decided to draw some of the animals and the Spitfire hanging above us.

Room 8 Positive Play at Kelvingrove Lawn Bowls

We discovered we could play Lawn Bowls at Kelvingrove for free! We were very excited to choose that for Positive Play this week. A very kind man at the Office explained how to play a game. We had to remember to NOT bounce the ball and to only ROLL it along the grass. Rolling the ball protects the grass.

Mark kindly played a game with Aiyla as well!

Ayla singing with Room 8

Chloe was so kind to Ayla today . She said she would like to sing with Ayla when she came back from her outing this afternoon. Ayla joined in singing and dancing to, 'We wish you well'.
Well done Chloe! Well done Ayla! We really enjoyed having you in Room 8!

Room 8 at the Science Centre

Room 8 enjoyed the workshop on Fun with Forces at the Science Centre. We were joined by Room 4. We had great fun learning about pushing and pulling and magnets.

We had some lunch and then explored the different levels in the Science Centre.

Eva liked seeing how many bricks the crane could lift without them falling off.

Mark said, " I enjoyed throwing the material into the wind tunnel."
Jamie B said, "I liked the room that had floors on their side! It made me feel dizzy!"

Chloe liked to make music with her hands and the water.

Jessica said, " I liked moving the ropes to see what happened."

John said he enjoyed everything!

Room 1 - Science Centre Visit

We went to the Science Centre and had lots of fun!

Dejna and Jack enjoyed playing and experimenting in the water.

Tiano enjoyed walking along the wobbly bridge.

Dejna loved watching the material fly into the sky!

Dejna enjoyed making the crane move round and lift up the bricks.

Tiano used lots of boats and toys in the water.

Tiano put all of the pieces together to help this man!

Room 7- Problem solving!

It was reported to the boys and girls of room 7 that some of the younger children were not entirely safe on the big climbing frame in the infants playground. So they visited the playground and discussed what to do. They decided that the opening at the monkey bars was a danger to those wee ones who didn't have good balance and might fall through! It was decided to decided to buy and then decorate a plywood board which would seal this gap and solve the problem.

Then the real problem solving began; there was measuring, finding out where to get the board from, costing it, asking the Head Teacher for the money, decorating the board before installing it. The children worked as a team to complete the job in 2 days and help our younger children enjoy their playground in a safer manner.

The drop of almost 6 feet was a problem for some younger children!

We bought the board and decided to decorate it.

We made flowers which we stuck on with PVA glue.

Darrel then coated the entire side of the board in PVA to seal it.

It looked strange at first but the glue dries in clear.

On the reverse side we made a Kirkriggs tree and copied some
children's drawings.

Again we coated the whole thing with PVA glue.

The board was screwed securely into place.

It is a bright addition to the wee playground and makes sure our
younger children are safe and secure as they play outside.

Well done Room 7! Good problem solving which helps others!

Room 1 - Sensory Activities

We have been learning through lots of different sensory activities.

Dejna and Jack enjoyed playing with the water outside.
They made bubbles and used toys to make the water flow.

Jack enjoyed relaxing to music while Dejna gave the dolly a message. What a relaxing afternoon!

Dejna had great fun making letters and shapes in the foam. She can write the 'i' sound and draw circles!
