Term 3 Highlights from Room 9

Well that's another Term almost over! Where does the time go? Room 9 have been talking about the highlights for them over the past ten weeks or so and here are some of their top activities...

Work Experience at the B&M's Store was a great learning experience for the boys who took part. They learned about the complexities of running a big store and the jobs which need to be done to keep things running smoothly.

It was hard work but the group were well supported by the excellent staff at the store. A different group will have a go in Term 4!

Our Knights and Castles topic saw the boys fully engaged and creating some wonderful artefacts and art work. The Topic finished with a great visit to Stirling Castle.

Autism awareness week brought many new experiences to the class and raised their awareness of a condition which affects a fair percentage of the children in the school. Down's Syndrome awareness was also raised particularly by the excellent video and signing we all did.

Have a great holiday and we'll see you back here in 2 weeks for more adventures in learning!

Room 3 - Farm Trip

Room 3 visited Kittochside Farm to see all of the farm animals and learn more about our animal topic.

We ran along the path and up the hills to get to the farm.

First we saw all of the sheep in the field.  We tried to count them but there were too many!

Then we saw some big pigs in their sty. We counted 3 of them!

We found the hens in their enclosed area. They came to the fence to say hello!

We looked at the baby calves. Some of them were sleeping.

Dejna met the farm cat. He really liked her and let her say hello.

On the way back we saw two lambs sleeping in their crate. Jack wanted to give them lots of cuddles!

We jumped in the big puddle on the way back to the park.

We relaxed on the swings before heading back to school on the bus.

We had a great day at the farm!

Room 9 at Stirling Castle

Room 9 took a trip to Stirling Castle in the heart of Scotland. They have been studying Knights and Castles this term and wanted to see what a real castle was like. They saw a statue of King Robert the Bruce outside the castle and also in the distance they could see the Wallace monument.

Cooking in the castle was done by servants and they often had to prepare huge amounts of food to feed the King and his guests.

John and Ayman sitting on the thrones in the Great Hall

The Royal Chapel

The Regimental Museum; Ayman was interested in the World War One exhibits.

Mazin looking out on the Scottish Countryside. The Castle is over 50m above the surrounding countryside in places.

John gained a lot of new knowledge from the trip and even spoke to queen Marie of Guise!

The Wallace Monument towering over the river Forth.

The magnificently restored Royal Palace. The ceiling of faces is magnificent!

The Royal Crest of Scotland

Marie of Guise the French wife of James V

Ayman at the Royal Throne. He learned that only Royalty could wear purple in the 16th Century.

Mazin had a great time although he did say he was a little nervous of heights!

The boys looking at a suit of armour. The whole trip was great fun and very educational.
