Room 3 - Art and Gym

Aston joined Room 3 for some art activities.     We made collages of different farm animals.

After art Room 3 went to the gym to practise on our new bikes.

 

The children practised going in and out of the cones and had races up and down the hall!

Room 7 Sporting Heroes

Room 7 Update.

Room 7 have been taking part in Multi-sports at Langside College. The boys having been learning Basketball, Football, Tennis, Volleyball, and team games.

We also took part in a Boccia class but I think the boys taught the coaches rather than other way about.

It's been great fun !!!

Work Experience

Work Experience for our Primary 7 children

It was the first trip for some of our Primary 7 boys to B & Ms store in our local community this week. They kindly agreed to host our pupils for work experience and give them an idea of what life and work is like in the world after school.

It was a very good learning experience for the youngsters involved who learned not only about running a large store and working with the public but also how the things we learn in school are of use in the adult world. Such real life learning experiences are invaluable to our children and we express our thanks to our friends and partners at B&Ms for helping facilitate it.

Ayman, John, Jacob and Jamie learned about the importance of being polite and helpful to the public. They also learned about the need to stack shelves in a tidy and safe manner as well as working the electronic tills when charging for goods.

A huge thank you to B & Ms who are good friends of our school and valued partners in our local community. We look forward to our next visit and the learning it will entail.



Room 3 - Numbers to 20 and fun in the gym

Jack and Tiano ordered all the numbers to 20.

Tiano put the correct number of buttons on each card.

In the afternoon Tiano and Jack had fun in the gym hall. 

Tiano jumped on the trampoline while Jack played on the bike.

Tiano had a go at playing hockey. He is doing great!

Well done Tiano and Jack, you have worked hard!

Room 3 - Animal Writing

This week Room 3 practised writing some animal names as part of our topic.

Dejna is practising writing 'elephant'.

Tiano can write 'hippo'.

Dejna is proud of her next word - 'lion'.

Recycling at Kirkriggs

Recycling continues at the school as the children learn that many items we use can be recycled. Today Room 9 took the big toner cartridges from the school printer to the local Post Office. They are posted back to the manufacturer and are refilled. This is a great thing to do because so much recyclable material goes to waste and is buried in landfill sites or incinerated.

Since we introduced the blue recycling bins into our classes, we have recycled over 300 full bins of paper, plastic and other materials. We also recycle old clothes, shoes and bags in the school  and our Eco Committee keep a close eye on things to make sure we continue to do all we can in this important area.

We have started learning about some animals from the farm and the jungle.

Room 3 - Christmas Show
